삼성메디슨, 프랑스 초음파 스타트업 Sonio 인수
Samsung Medison, the medical device unit of Samsung Electronics, will pay $92.7 million to acquire French ultrasound startup Sonio.

Investors included Cross Border Impact, Elaia, Bpifrance French Tech Seed and OneRagtime.

이번 거래는 지난해 시리즈 A 투자 유치 이후 여성 건강 관련 기술에 대한 수요가 증가하고 있음을 드러내는 사례로 평가받고 있다.
Sonio의 혁신적인 기술은 인공지능(AI)을 활용하여 초음파 보고서 작성을 자동화하며, 초음파 이미지 속 잠재적 이상 징후를 탐지한다.
이 기술은 모델 대 모델 비교 및 딥러닝 AI 기법을 결합해 임상 의사 결정 지원 도구와 함께 희귀 질환 우선 순위 결정에 필요한 의료 이미지 분석 기능을 제공하는 것으로 알려져 있다.
회사 측은 해당 제품이 300개 이상의 잠재적 산전 증후군 및 이상을 95% 이상의 높은 정확도로 식별할 수 있다고 밝혔다. Sonio의 CEO Cecile Brosset Dubois는 "지난 4년간 믿기 어려울 정도로 빠른 성장을 경험한 우리는, 이번 파트너십으로 사업 확장 로드맵 가속화, 전 세계 상업 확장 강화 및 독립적 실행력 유지를 통해 우리의 사명을 다시 한 번 확인할 수 있게 되었다"고 전했다.
또 Sonio는 올해 6월 미국 시장 확대를 목표로 시리즈 A에서 1,400만 달러의 투자금을 유치한 바 있으며, 피치북에 따르면 해당 투자 이후 회사의 기업가치는 약 4,870만 달러로 평가됐다. 크로스 보더 임팩트, 엘라이아, 비피프랑스 프렌치 테크 시드, 원래그타임 등 여러 투자자들이 이번 펀딩 라운드에 참여한 것으로 알려졌다.
